PÖLLÖNKANKAAN KOULU, OULUN KAUPUNNKI
Pöllönkangas school is a comprehensive school in the city of Oulu . There are c. 700 students (6-16 years) and about 50 teachers at our school. We work in two buildings (Pöllönkangas and Kuivasjärvi schools). The head teacher of the school is Mr. Risto Saartoala.
Our school year starts mid-August and ends at the end of May or the first week in June. We have two terms, autumn and spring term, altogether 190 school days. During the school terms there are several shorter holiday periods. A normal day consists of four to seven lessons, each lasting 45 min, and a lunch break. Free school lunch is served for all the pupils every day.
We function actively in several projects about sustainability and health. We have been an Eco-School for several years. The school day is activated through Finnish Schools on the Move. Internationally we have a friendship school in Halle, Germany and we have both Erasmus+ KA1 and KA2 projects running.
We aim at building our pupils a strong base, and safe and caring environment. We work in close co-operation with the parents.
